While developing Pentaquin we emphasize on creating a coherent and logical world. This requires a variety of concepts running in the background next to the gameplay elements visible to the players that are necessary for a consistent world.
A detailed background story combining past, present and future was one of the first obstacles during development.

The creation of the world
At the start of the Pentaquin calendar there was an empty void consisting of free matter and energy. Out of this energy a mighty godlike entity emerged: The Primordial God Terr'oz.
At some point in time this entity started to form a planet with 5 moons out of the free matter. By mere chance Terr'oz created a single living being in the process. He replicated this new species to breathe new life into the planet. After many eons of evolution humanity emerged.
After some time the bodyless godlike entity Terr'oz strived for a physical existence and therefor created five additional godlike entities with human appearance in which he inhaled part of his energy.
Each of these godlike entities received one of the five moons of Pentaquin as domain to rule over.
The five Moongods were born.
The Moonwars
As time went by it became clear that the five Moongods adopted different traits from the Primordial God Terr’oz and each of them started to form the moon they received to their liking.
It didn’t take long for each of the Moongods to be dissatisfied with their respective domain and so they reached out to fight for the main planet and become the single ruler. Each of them recruited humans and led them to a large-scale war. Terr’oz himself, plagued by the suffering of war, decided to banish all five gods from the planet back to their moons so that Pentaquin would be peaceful again.
With the Moongods gone, humanity lost its leaders and the war ended.

The Present
After the war ended the Circle of Mages, created by the gods, lost most of their members, but still the most loyal of followers tried to find a method to free their gods from the exile.
After many failed attempts to break the banishment it seems foreseeable that these gods will walk on the surface of Pentaquin once more. The Primordial God Terr'oz who has to uphold the banishment with his energy is weakened and the influence of the Moongods on Pentaquin is easily perceptible. Even amongst the normal people who try to prevent another war at any cost, a resistance is rising utilizing weapons against the Circles of Mages trying to avert the return of the Moongods.
They’re accompanied by the Terr'ozar, the loyal followers of Terr'oz which lost their city Terrovania in the great war, only ruins left to tell about the former splendour. Directly bound to the Primordial God Terr'oz, the Terr'ozar try to strengthen their god as well as to prevent the Circles of Mages from finding a way to break the banishment of the Moongods.
